89% of New Wellness Coaching
Practices Slated to Go Under by 2013
According to Dunn and Bradstreet, the most recognized independent
business research team in the world, over 89% of al new Independent
Health practices and other smal businesses are scheduled to be forced
out of business by 2013.
This is especial y threatening to Wel ness coaches, Nutritionists, and
Alternative Health Care Practitioners.
The reason why, according to research, is that the overwhelming
majority of new practices lack the knowledge and skil required to
attract a steady flow of paying clients.
"Most Independent Health Care Practices like Wel ness Coaches and
Nutritionists are great at getting results for their clients ... but none of
them are taught how to actual y attract paying clients in the first place.
So despite their skil as health practitioners and their ability for help
others, they end us closing their practices because nobody showed
them how to get and retain clients" says Charlie Murphy, a licensed
Wel ness Coach and Consultant to the industry.
BUT IT GETS WORSE
As the economy continues its downward spiral, fewer people are wil ing
to spend money on wel ness coaching, physical therapy, nutritional
counseling, or other wel ness related treatments that aren't considered
to be absolutely necessary.
According to Murphy, "Ever since the economy went down, few people
are wil ing to spend any money on health related matters unless it is an
absolute emergency." Or, it is fully covered by insurance.
But the slowing economy isn't the only thing hurting the Independent
Health Care Practices like Wel ness Coaches and Nutritionists.
TRUSTED ADVERTISING METHODS HAVE STOPPED WORKING
"The few health practitioners who do advertise are seeing a smal
fraction of the results they used to", says Charlie Murphy.
"Most of them used traditional methods such as Phone Book Ads,
Newspaper Ads, and Flyers/DM to get customers ... but those methods
rarely work anymore."
And according to practices across the country, she is right. "My practice
is down to half of what it used to be and I have tried everything from
Phone Book ads to seminars", said one California Wel ness Coach who
asked not to be named.
But despite these growing problems,
SOME WELLNESS PRACTICES ARE HAVING THEIR BEST YEAR EVER!
Charlie Murphy says, "There are a few ways that real y work wel to
attract a steady flow of clients to any practice. The good news is it is not
expensive or difficult to do it. In fact, some Wel ness Coaches and
nutritionists have told me they now have long waiting lists of people
who want their services."
