Gonorrhea Testing: Everything You Need To Know, And More

0.00 (0 votes)
Document Description
There are over twenty five different diseases that are classified as STDs. An STD is a sexually transmitted disease and testing is available for all of them. Testing is a great way to find out your status so that treatment can begin if necessary. Out of all the STDs out there a few have even a name that makes you sick. Take Gonorrhea for instance. Its name is as ugly as the disease. AIDS is probably the number one STD with a name that gets you in the gut. Next up is probably herpes. Ewww...now there's a nickname no one wants. "Hey Herpes Harry, wanna play ball with us?" Doesn't work. Makes you sort of sick. Gonorrhea is the next in line. Gonorrhea Gus, Gonorrhea Greg, either way: not a good name. Yet gonorrhea is nothing to take lightly. Although there are more devastating diseases out there, testing should be done for it if you engage in sexual activities. Let's take a look at how bad gonorrhea really is. Gonorrhea is one of those diseases that testing was made for. It's been around forever and still remains an awful blight on the world. In fact, gonorrhea is the second most common STD out there. There are approximately a half million new cases reported yearly, but experts say that the true number is probably more than double that. With statistics this daunting who could argue with testing? (Maybe Herpes Harry.) What is Gonorrhea? This is where our article gets a little gnarly. If you are squeamish-look away! It is an unfortunately all-too common STD caused by the bacterium gonococcus. This particular nasty bacterium grows and multiplies in the warm moist areas of your body such as the penis and the rectum (!). That's right, it grows in the rectum as well as the penis. It is also typically found in the throat, cervix, and urethra. When gonorrhea testing is administered and treatment begins it can stop the progression of the bacteria and help you back on your way to health. Symptoms of Gonorrhea The symptoms of gonorrhea include a yellow or green-like pus discharge that comes out of the penis or vagina. Symptoms also include painful urination. This feeling is commonly referred to as "peeing razor blades."
