How to Cook Mahi Mahi Perfectly


Seafood lovers would love the taste and texture of mahi mahi. It has very mild flavor and a
firm texture that is perfect for poaching and grilling and baking and frying. When cooking this
kind of fish, however, it is important that you know how to cook it perfectly. Undercooked
fish will turn you off eating seafood forever; overcooking it will give you a rubbery, tough,
and dry result.

To know how to cook it right, you also have to note what temperature to cook mahi mahi.
This is crucial in determining the cooking time as well as the other adjustments you have to
make.

What Experts Say

Expert cooks have a smart advice on what temperature to cook mahi mahi. They say about
350 to 450 degrees Fahrenheit is enough to cook the meat through. The cooking time is 10
minutes per inch of fish at the minimum. If you use a higher temperature, you will have to
adjust your cooking time accordingly. The higher temperature you will use, the shorter your
cooking time should be. It is not advisable though that you go beyond 450 degrees because
the risk of burning your dish goes higher as well.

Regardless of what experts say we suggest you check your fish every five minutes or so to see
if it is cooking right. Your test for doneness is by using a fork. If the fish flakes easily from
the skin already, it is done.

Cook Mahi Mahi

As mentioned earlier, there are a couple of ways to cook mahi mahi. People prefer the taste of
either grilled or baked. That's why we offer to easy mahi mahi recipes for you to try.

For the grilled mahi mahi, you will need olive oil, white wine, a seasoning blend that include
some choice herbs, and vegetables for side dish. you have to brush your mahi mahi with some
olive oil, then, pour some wine and your own blend of seasoning. Place it in an aluminum foil
along with vegetables of your choice, seal it in, and put it on top of the grill. Depending on the
size of your fillets and the quantity of your fish, you may need to leave it cooking on the grill
for 8 to 10 minutes. If you want it with grill marks, you can discard the foil and place the
well-seasoned fish straight onto the grill. Make sure to grease your grill, though. You would
not want your fish sticking and breaking apart.

For the baked mahi mahi, you may use the same blend of seasoning and the same ingredients
but different cooking method. Pop your prepared fish along with its die dish on a preheated
oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
