Cooking on George Foreman Grills

The Grill George Foreman is very popular among cooks. Available in different types, they are
best known for dual-contact cooking, which reduces grilling time. The ridges remove the fats,
which translates to healthier food. Here are some tips to get the most out of it.

Cooking Times on the Grill

Study the features of the grill first. Always keep in mind that both sides are cooked at the
same time. So compared to other grills, cooking will finish at half the time. You need to
remember this so you don't overcook the food. If you want boneless teaks, sear them for 6 to 8
minutes for medium. For medium rare, sear for five minutes.

Burgers in the 1/4 lb range will take 6 minutes to cook.
If you want boneless chicken breasts, cook for six minutes. This is for those that are three
quarters of an inch thick. Do not use in-bone chicken on the grill because they will not cook
right. For fish steaks and fillets, grill for 3 1/2 minutes for every half an inch thickness.

If you are learning how to grill boneless pork and lamb chops, sear for 8 minutes for every
inch thickness.

Smoky Taste

You can use the grill to simulate the aroma of grilling outdoors. Just put a couple of drops of
liquid smoke at the lower part of the grill. Put the food on and close the lid. Grill burgers, fish,
chops or steaks at a 45 degree clockwise angle halfway through grilling. This will produce X
marks. You can also prepare tomatoes, bell pepper slices and other vegetables. The choice of
garnishing and spices is all up to you.

Cleaning and Maintenance

The grill is comprised of a non-stick surface. This makes cleaning easy. If the model you have
has detachable parts, they are even easier to clean. Take them off, rinse and dry. The cooking
surfaces of most entry level grills have the cooking surfaces attached. You should not drench
the unit in water.

First you take out the food. Put four paper towels between the griddles. Close the grill and let
the towels soak in the grease. Discard the towels after several minutes. Get a sponge and dip it
in soapy water. Clean the grill.

Remember there are several models of these grills. They have different features, so study each
one carefully. Always study each model before using it.
