Another Mans Treasure - Free recycling for unwanted goods
throughout the UK

AnotherMansTreasure.co.uk is a brand new website established in Scotland which
promotes recycling throughout the UK. By encouraging users to pass on their unwanted
goods to others instead of throwing them away, the site hopes to keep as many items out
of landfill as possible. Any item can be listed on the site where it can be viewed by
potential recipients up and down the country who want to give it a new home. Items that
have already been donated include DVDs, CDs, clocks, computer games, consoles,
televisions and monitors.

When listing items, donors have the choice of listing them as for collection or delivery.
When placing a collection listing the donor of the item simply has to wait for potential
recipients to contact him/her via the sites in-built messaging system to arrange collection.
If the user has opted to place a delivery listing then he/she has agreed to post the item if
the delivery cost is paid by the recipient. These type of listings are generally used with
smaller items that can be easily posted such as CDs, DVDs and video games. Paying the
donor the delivery cost for an item is safe, quick and simple via the sites use of PayPal to
make instant payments via email addresses. From a recipients point of view this means
that many more items are accessible to them, both in their local area and across the whole
of the UK.

The site was created amidst these times of economic recession where many people across
the country are finding themselves financially worse off than they were before and in

recognised a need for a more user friendly website devoted to the recycling of unwanted
items in the UK. Another Mans Treasure differs from similar sites like Freecycle by
providing a much more user friendly interface where all information can be organised and
sorted to the users liking. Users can browse, search, and list items very easily at the touch
of a button. Items can be filtered by proximity to the users post code and any listings
added to their list of favourites should they wish to come back to them later. Email
notifications can also be set up to alert users of any new items as soon as they are listed
that meet their specified criteria.
