A No-Frills Guide to Preparing Cookies

This berger cookie recipe can serve 24 cookies. It takes approximately 11 minutes to prepare
and make.

Ingredients

1 cup (8 ounces) milk
Chocolate icing
4 1/2 cups (19 ounces) all-purpose flour
3 large eggs
1 1/2 cups (10 1/2 ounces) sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 cup (2 sticks, 8 ounces) unsalted butter
Cookies

Instructions

Heat the oven to 400 F. Grease a couple of baking sheets. Get a bowl and cream the baking
powder, vanilla, salt and butter. Add the sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Toss in a bit of
the flour in the wet mix.

Add a bit of the milk and stir. Alternate the two and end with the flour. Mix gently. Get a 1/4-
cup measure and put the dough on the cookie sheets. Press each dough piece and turn into
three inch round shapes. Space each cookie by two inches. Keep baking for eleven minutes.
They should not be colored at the top but brown at the bottom. Let the cookies cool for five
minutes.

Put the cookies on a rack. Once they are cool, add the chocolate icing. Put about three
tablespoons of icing on each cookie. Add more if you like. If you put in the amount indicated,
the cookie will be filled right up to the edge. However, it is really up to you to decide.

Choco Chips

Ingredients

12 oz chocolate chips (2 cups)
2 1/2 cups "quick" oats (do not use the "instant" oats)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp milk
2 large eggs
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter, room temperature


Instructions

To make the oat meal chocolate cookies, preheat the oven (350 F). Prepare a cookie sheet or
parchment paper baking sheet. Blend the sugars and butter in a bowl until the color turns
light.

Add the eggs one at a time. Beat each egg well. Add the milk and the vanilla extract. In
another bowl, mix the salt, baking soda, baking powder and flour. Beat the flour in the sugary
concoction. Use a mixer to make it easier. Add the oats and chips slowly and stir.

Put one inch dough balls on the sheet. Distribute them 1 1/2 inches distant from one another.
Bake for 13 minutes at 350 F. Let them cool for a couple of minutes. Set them on a rack to
cool.Once they are cool, you can serve the cookies.
