India Budget 2012: 24-27 percent excise
duty on cars
All the Indian car maker such as
Maruti,
Honda,
Mahindra,
Chevrolet etc. have started working
on increasing cars prices up to Rs
70000, with an increase in the
excise duty 2 per cent to 5 per cent
at present on all products in the
Budget
for
2012-13.
Indian
Government
has
increased
the
excise duty 24 per cent from 22 per
cent and a fixed duty of Rs 15,000 on
under four meter vehicles, while 27
per cent excise duty has been
mended on over meter vehicles

Now the available under four meters
cars in India with petrol and diesel
engine of 1,200 cc engine and diesel
cars which have 1,500 cc engine
respectively will be pay excise duty 24
per cent instead of the earlier 22 per
cent and a fixed duty of Rs 15,000.
Meanwhile, petrol and diesel cars and
other vehicles with over four metres
length and over 1,200 cc and 1,500 cc
engines will have to pay excise duty 27
per cent and a fixed duty of Rs 15,000
instead of the earlier 22 per cent.

Comment on increase of excise duty on cars, Maruti
Suzuki India Managing Executive Officer (Marketing
and Sales) Mayank Pareek told that the company has
started the working on the exact amount of the hike
for Maruti cars. Now, on 11th April, 2012 launching
Maruti Ertiga price will be affected this excise duty
hike.

Mahindra & Mahindra, the country's leading utility vehicle maker has also started
the working on Maruti car prices hike along with other vehicles from 2 to 3 per cent
or Rs 6,000 to Rs 30,000.
On the other hand, Japanese car maker, Honda will hike car prices for entire range of
Honda cars in India from 7000 to 70000.
