Tailgating: The Ideal Excuse For Any Vicious Competition

I adore all sports. I love the strategy, the emotional rollercoaster, the pre-game bantering, the
anticipation, and most importantly - the victory! Each game I engaged in was an opportunity to
crush my opponent!

I'll be victorious!

The game was tied at twenty. 1 point. That was all we needed. Just one point and we could be
victorious. It had been a grueling competition, fought under a dazzling summer time sun. The
match-up was prefaced with heckling, smack talk and vicious debate. As such, competitors from
each teams were feeling the pressure.

1 point would be fairly simple to earn. It had been the previous twenty that had been difficult to
accomplish. But which team would be the very first to score? One team would walk away
victorious and one team would just walk away.

Could it be me? Could I secure a victory for my team? Did I've it in me to score the essential point
below such unbelievable pressure? Oh how I wished it were possible! For a moment, I lapsed into
a fanciful daydream of glory, riches, honors and fame. A mischievous grin tugged at my lips as I
envisioned my opponents weeping with shame.

I reviewed my technique one much more time. Because the final pitcher this inning, all I had to do
was get the bag onto the board and make it stay there. I took aim. I tossed. I watched as my bag
hit gold! We did it! We won! If only my team didn't consist of just 1 other person, I might be
escorted out on the shoulders of my fellow victor. Oh, cornhole is such a fabulous game!

Let's do it once more!

I had been so engrossed in our cornhole victory that I had managed to tune out my surroundings.
As a cheer rose from the spectators, the spell was broken. I glanced about at the cheering crowd
of buddies as they raised a can to our good results.

My teammate had raised his can to toast our victory. A friend thrust a cold beverage into my hand
as well. I looked down at it, slightly disappointed. My vision of a victorious celebration was a bit
more dignified than the mosh pit I was presently engulfed in. Where was the gleaming trophy?
Apparently my daydream was better than reality.

Through the haze of the grill smoke, I glanced at the massive scoreboard clock within the

distance. We still had three hours until kickoff. That meant three glorious hours to dominate my
friends in other tailgate games! What could be next? Washers? Ladder golf? 500?

Tailgating was, maybe, the very best venue for a small friendly competitors. Everyone was primed
for the evening's battle on the gridiron. The anticipation fostered the prime environment for our
personal battles. Combined with great food and cold beverages, I could not envision a much more
enjoyable afternoon! And also the so-called "main event" was however to take place!

I was extremely thankful that my buddies were just as competitive as I was. Otherwise, I may not
have any buddies left! And without our little competitions, tailgating could be a really boring event!
