Aquaculture is an important industry that produces nearly one-third of the fish and shellfish products commercially available worldwide (FAO, 1999). Owing to the growth of the industry, the amount of habitat utilized along near-shore waters is increasing rapidly, and the number of conflicts between aquaculture and marine mammals is increasing as well.
