THE MATCH 2011
The MATERIALS CHALLENGE. An annual quiz show event for
high school students spearheaded by the UP Materials Science Society
which aims to promote the field and industry of materials science and
technology to the younger generations. The event, the UP MSS believes, is
an effective way of introducing the less familiar field of materials to high
school students and convincing the students to consider materials science
The Theme.
"GREENERATION:
Geared
Towards
a
Sustainable Nation"
The growing population faces problems due to the limited resources the
world has to offer. The imminent challenge needing urgent response is to
look for renewable and more sustainable alternatives. This poses a need
for more materials scientists and engineers to create and develop "GREEN"
materials. The Filipino youth, with its innate talent and creativity, is
therefore called to be the Greeneration geared towards a sustainable
nation.
MatCh 2011.
Now on its 7th year, MatCh levels up with its new and upgraded contests
and activities. Aside from the annual Materials Science Quiz Show, MatCh
2011 will also feature the Materials Science and Engineering Seminar and
Exhibit for High School Students and the poster making contest.
