I'm Michèle Negele. I’m forty‐four yrs . old and reside in Amsterdam with a little dog as well as two
cats and kittens, am enjoyably married as well as a practicing Buddhist. I have been have been
infected with Aids and also liver disease C in 1983 via a blood vessels transfusion.
This is my story as a medical marijuana user.
In the past, I developed more wellness challenges like neuropathy, that is as soon as your hands and
feet hurt and feel odd in different ways, as a result of neural harm caused by the Aids disease. Also i
get uncomfortable side effects like serious nausea from the particular triple combination of
medications which i have been consuming ever since the starting point of my personal disease, and
persistent discomfort in my muscle tissues because of a exceptional type of rheumatism. Hang on,
there’s much more: I do have clotted blood vessels around my the heart, for which I had been
remedied in medical center in 2008 and 09, where they unclosed the particular blood vessels within
the heart.
On doctor’s guidance
The long‐term agony and feeling sick started off approximately many years ago and as well as my
hospital I attempted a multitude of anesthetics, even antidepressants in very low medication dosage.
After about several years of experimenting watched by my consultant, to my surprise he instructed
me to look at marihuana.
I never before smoked weed in my younger days and back then there were no vaporizers yet.
The moment I started smoking a lot of people started to comment upon it.. People thought that I had
become a blower; getting stoned. But that wasn't the case in my situation.
Mediweed came into my life
Back in 2000 the medical program with cannabis started in the Netherlands. My hospital sent them a
letter in which they explained my medical situation. From that moment on I could order at
Mediweed and I could try different strains.
Due to the fact that the THC level was low, I felt that this kind of weed didn't really help me with my
pain and nausea.
This medicinal cannabis was very inexpensive.
As I am on disability benefit, the fact that the weed was low priced, was very important to me.
The marketvalue became appearant to the pharmaceutical industry; prices had a steep curve
My world tumbled apart the moment the pharmaceutical world discovered this world and took over
Mediweed. Prices almost tripled, which meant a big disaster for me.
I was only covered for € 600 per year.
And the stuff was costing me 9 Euros a gram!
Just imagine my situation. I need about 3,5 grams per day in order to reduce my pain and nausea.
That's €30 per day. I couldn't afford that.
Soon my friends, who are connected to the coffeeshop world in the Netherlands, realized that I had a
huge problem. Therefore I was able to continue buying weed for the old price, which was €3 per
gram. Even this was a huge amount of money for me.
Why aren't the alternatives good
Also, the smoking really bothered me and it is very conspicuous, which I don’t like.
There had to be another way to take my medicine. I started looking around.
Tea wasn't my cup of tea; always too strong or to weak.
Cookies, the same thing. Cannabis butter, and don't forget it takes a lot of work to make it, was also
not the right choice for me.).
I had to do a lot of research in order to find the right amount of ingredients I needed in order to
achieve the results I needed it. And a new problem arose; it made me vomiting.
Marinol was the next test in the line. These are pills made from Marijuana.
A very expensive method and they didn't work for me.
I even tried a bottle full with marijuana liquid. One bottle 60 euros.
Again, I was not fortunate as it didn't work for me.
My first vaporizer
I hated smoking my mediweed because I do not smoke (tobacco).
Finally in 2005/6 my pharmacy told me that they sold a vaporizer called DIGITALVAPIR ONE, which
cost about 150 Euros ‐ still a lot of money for me.
So I bought this device.
What a surprise it was: The vape was subtle and instead of being stoned and high, now the real effect
was more of a high.
The biggest advantage to me was ofcourse, I didn't have to smoke anymore.
The noise of the fan drove me nuts.
I am very aware of noises, probably due to my frail health.
But it prevented me from using it the whole day, and I ended up smoking joints as well, which I
disliked.
Why cleaning is so important
The DIGITAL VAPIR ONE is handy because it’s not so big and it’s easy to use.
It's nice to have the tray slide smoothly. In order to have this, regular cleaning with alcohol and a
piece of cloth was necessary.
When vaping a sticky residue stays behind. You need to clean this up.
Along with the Vapir comes a balloon that is medium sized and very robust.
You can use the vaporizer both in Fahrenheit and Celsius, which is useful.
The Vapir is really for non‐intensive users and is not a good option if more than people will vape from
it.
The downside is that it doesn’t have a battery and that the fan makes too much noise.
This device needs to be held.
And pricewise; there are better options for that amount of money.
I <heart> a new vape
Back in 2007 I started to have new health related problems; chest pains. I was taken to the hospital in
order to be checked.
It took them more than 6 months to find the answer. 90% of my heart arteries were clogged.
They rushed me to hospital and I was helped as soon as possible, after which I felt much better again
physically.
When my cardiologist heard that I smoked my medicinal cannabis, while she understood my need to
take it, she wasn’t very happy and asked me to find alternate ways to use it.
This is when I decided to look around for an alternative vaporizer.
