1. SETTING UP MINT
MINT USER ID SETUP
In order to download Mint to your PDA Smartphone and to start transacting you’ll need a Mint
User ID + Password. If you don’t already have one, simply call us on 1300 761 811 or fax your
completed Mint Application Form to us.
A. INSTALLING & USING MICROSOFT ACTIVE SYNC
Pair your PDA phone with your computer via ActiveSync.
Before you can install Mint make sure your PDA phone is paired with your computer using
“Microsoft ActiveSync”. You will have instructions in your PDA phone’s manual. ActiveSync is
already on most PCs as part of the operating system. If you don’t have it, it can be found here:
www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync - simply install the software and connect your
PDA phone to the computer (usually via a USB cable). Then follow the instructions that come
with your PDA phone to install your ActiveSync.
B. DOWNLOADING & INSTALLING MINT SOFTWARE
STEP 1
Open Internet Explorer
Once your PDA phone is paired with your computer, you’ll need to
go to Internet Explorer on your PDA phone to download the Mint
software. Tap >
“Start” then tap >
“Internet Explorer” from the
drop down menu. This will open up a web browser.
Note: you’ll need to be connected to the internet to do this. Otherwise you
can use you PDA phone’s GPRS connection to download the Mint software
directly onto your PDA phone, rather than using your PC to do this.

complete Step 3. If you have a recent PDA phone running Windows Mobile version 6
onwards, then you should go straight to Step 4.
STEP 3
Download Windows Mobile Compact Framework
a. Tap the dropdown box to select the correct operating system for your PDA phone.
b. Once this is selected tap on >
“Download .NET CF v2”. Make sure the ‘open file after down-
load’ tick-box is selected, and tap on
“Yes”. It will download to your PDA / Smartphone and
automatically install.
c. When the software asks where to install itself to, tap >
“Device” and tap >
“Install”.
d. When the software asks if you wish to proceed because it is from an unknown publisher,
tap on >
“Yes”. This is now installed, please proceed to Step 4.

STEP 4
Download Mint Software
If you have Windows Mobile 6 or have just downloaded .NET
CFv2 (in step 3) then you’re ready to download and install
the Mint software.
Tap on >
”Download Mint” – make sure the
“Open file after
download” tick-box is selected - and tap on >
“Yes”. Follow
the prompts, and then restart your device.
At this point you may be asked to re-start your PDA phone.
Do this, and go to step C overleaf.
Tip: Create a shortcut to Mint in the Start Menu after downloading. Tap
“Start” then Select and tap
“Settings”. Select the “Menus” icon. You will see a list of Programs with Tick boxes next to them;
Unselect the programs that you do not use (e.g. “Windows Media”) then tick the “Mint” box to create
the shortcut. Once this is completed you will see the “Mint” icon in the start menu.

C. PAIRING YOUR MINT PRINTER VIA BLUETOOTH
If you have purchased a printer/card reader, you will need to pair it with your PDA phone.
STEP 1
• Read your PDA phone’s user guide to search for devices to pair using
Bluetooth.
• Make sure your Mint printer is switched on, otherwise it won’t be ‘found’ by
your PDA phone.
• When your PDA phone has found your Mint printer, it will display
‘SPP- R200’ in a list of available devices.
• Select
“SPP-R200” and then tap >
”Next”. It will ask for the Bluetooth
pairing code. Type in
“919507” tap >
“Next” and then
“Finish”. (if serial port
tick box pops up make sure it’s ticked)
Your printer is now paired and will be permanently connected unless you
manually delete it.
Note: the following symbol on your PDA phone indicates that Bluetooth is
turned on.
STEP 2
For newer Windows Mobile PDA phones you’ll also need to do the
following so that the two devices communicate
securely.
• Tap >
“Start” then tap >
“Settings”.
• Tap >
“Connections” from the tabs at the bottom of the screen.
• Tap >
“Bluetooth” icon
• Tap > the
“COM Ports” tab.
• Tap > on
“New Outgoing Port”
• Tap on >
“SPP-R200”.
• Tap on
“Next”.
• The outbound COM port: select and activate Port 6 with your PDA
phone. This should work for all Windows Mobile 6 PDAs. If you have
an earlier version or if the port is already assigned to another
device, please select another COM Port number until it is accepted.

• Make note of the COM Port chosen. This will need to match the
COM Port in the Mint software.
• Once you have selected a COM Port, the printer name will appear
ith the selected COM port in brackets.
STEP 3 • Navigate to Mint Portable Payment on your phone.
• Tap >
“Menu” at the bottom of the screen, then tap > ‘Settings’.
• Tap >
“Printer model”.
• Tap >
“Bixolon SPP-200”.
• Tap > on
“COM Port”.
• Tap on >
“COM 6”.
• Tap on
“Save”.

D. GPRS SETUP
In order to use your PDA phone wirelessly you need to enable it to use GPRS or 3G.
This should already be setup on a new PDA phone. If not, please refer to your phone’s user guide
for instructions.
(Note: Your PDA phone’s
“Time & Date” must be correct and you must have credit and you must
have
“Data Enabled”)
E. LAUNCHING MINT
After setting up your GPRS connection, installing the Mint software and pairing your PDA
phone to the Mint printer via Bluetooth you’re ready to go.
To begin using Mint on your PDA phone, tap >
“Start” then tap >
“Programs” then tap >
“Windows Explorer” then finally tap >
“Mint V2”. Type in the
“Mint user ID” and
“PIN” that was
supplied to you.

STEP 1
Logging on
Turn on your PDA phone and printer/card reader. Tap the
Mint icon on your PDA phone. This will open the Mint software.
Tap the
“Merchant Login” icon on the screen to log in.
STEP 2
Enter your Mint User ID and PIN Code by using the keypad and
tapping
“Submit”.
STEP 3
Searching products/services
To search for a product, tap
“Tasks”,
”Product Search”, then
“Search”. Type in all or part of the product name and tap
“Search”.
The Product list will narrow to products that fit your search
criteria.
To clear the list select
”Tasks”,
”Product Search”, then
“Clear”.

STEP 4
Selecting products/services
Enter the quantities of goods and service sold by tapping on
“+” to increase and
“-” to decrease
quantity. For larger amounts, tap and hold the item in order to edit the quantity manually.
STEP 5
Editing product/service details
To change the ‘product’ name, quantity or price, tap & hold on product name, select
“Edit”.
Change the ‘product’ name, unit price, GST inclusive/exclusive & quantity under
“Product
Details” screen and tap on
“Save” to save the details for that particular transaction.
STEP 6
Adding comments
Sometimes it’s useful to add comments that relate to the
transactions, such as who the transaction was made for or a
thank you note. To add a comment relating to a transaction, tap
“Comments” in the product screen. You will then be prompted to
type your comment. Once complete select
“Save” and then
“Next” on the product screen.
Alternatively, default comments can be set through your online
Mint Administration System.

Assign transactions to a customer
From the product list screen, tap
“Tasks”, then
“Customer”.
Current Customers
If you want to assign the transaction to a current customer, enter part of the customer details,
tick the
“Search Customers” box, and tap
“Search”. You will see a list of customers that fit your search criteria. Select the right customer and tap
“Submit”, then
“Save”.
Adding Hoc Customers
If you want to assign the transaction to an ad hoc
customers, enter all the customer details, then tap
“Save”. DON’T tick the
“Search Customers” box. Tap
“Save”.
