STAFF SAFETY TRAINING COURSES OCCUPATIONAL FIRST AID – FETAC LEVEL 5 TRAINING Why should I do it ? The 2007 Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations (Part 7, Chapter 2) state that “It shall be the duty of every employer to provide, or ensure that there is provided and maintained in every place where working conditions require it at each place of work under his control such first aid equipment, suitably marked and easily accessible, as is adequate and appropriate in the circumstances for enabling first aid to be rendered to persons at the place of work.” This includes the provision of trained Occupational First Aiders (the number of which needs to be determined by a workplace risk assessment). Course Agenda Our typical course agenda would be as follows:- • First Aid in the workplace • Patient Assessment • Respiratory Emergencies • Cardiac First Response (including usage of AED – automated external defibrillator) • Wounds and Bleeding • Altered levels of Consciousness • Musculoskeletal injuries • Burns and Scalds, Chemicals and Electric Shock Course Certification The course is structured in accordance with FETAC Occupational First Aid Standard – Level 5. On successful completion of a written and practical examination all participants will be issued will a temporary certificate attesting to the fact that they have successfully completed the course and then will be issued a FETAC Level 5 qualification at either Pass, Merit or Distinction.
