"THE CHARMED PALADINS"
PROLOGUE
FADE IN:
EXT. VERMONT AERIAL VIEW - DAY
Lake Champlain hugs the cosmopolitan city.
EXT. UPSCALE NEIGHBORHOOD STREET – DAY
A lone taxicab parks on front of an attractive three-level
colonial home tucked in the middle by lofty trees.
WYATT HALLIWELL, tall, holds the Mr. Heartthrob title back
in high school, casts an appreciative gaze around the
charming community.
WYATT
Grandpa has to retire in an
area like this.
He assists the taxi driver hefting the last heavy luggage.
CHRIS HALLIWELL, an inch shorter than Wyatt, who tends to
have an air of seriousness, wraps a protective arm over
his backpack.
CHRIS
I'm glad we've decided to
surprise him.
INT. BENNETT'S RESIDENCE – DAY
Wyatt steps into the threshold and the foyer lights up
automatically.
WYATT
I just hope mom doesn't spoil
it.
3.
CHRIS
Yeah.
Wyatt decides to check all the rooms. Chris slings the
backpack onto his shoulder and finds first the
ATTIC
where the space is cramped unlike the one in the Manor.
WYATT
Spacious rooms downstairs and
on the second floor, Chris.
CHRIS
And they fell short in building
the attic.
There's no podium except for the covered circular table,
beckoning them to move closer.
WYATT
Only one disadvantage.
He removes the linen cover and admires the intricate
carvings decorating the table.
WYATT
It's the spot for now.
Chris' protective stance eases as he unzips his backpack.
He lays the familiar tome on the table.
INSERT – BOOK OF SHADOWS
The large Triquetra symbol adorns the ancient and
voluminous book.
BACK TO SCENE
CHRIS
It's in our hands, Wyatt. Evil
will be coming for it.
WYATT
I know little bro. I hope
Grandpa's ready for some
distraction in his life.
4.
CHRIS
We'll only know when he returns
from New York tomorrow night.
EXT. NEW YORK – DAY
Chrysler Building gleams despite the haze.
INT. BUSINESS OFFICE – DAY
...and the door swings open at a sight of a broad-
shouldered man dressed in dark clothing. He crouches
before JOAN WITT, middle-aged officious-looking woman with
high-cheek bones.
JOAN
(struggles)
Victor...
VICTOR BENNETT distinguished looking, white hair peeking
at his temples, sizes up the situation even if hesitation
flashes across his face.
VICTOR
Let her go!
Without turning, SADUMEL shuts the door with a flick of
his finger. He releases a limp Joan from his scan.
He snarls at the still mobile Victor. Something repels his
demonic ability.
Victor notices his a half a head shorter than Sadumel.
Smoke ripples up and down Sadumel's neck as his form of
breathing.
More smoke intertwines with thin fiery magma-like
currents, enshrouding the head. His eyes are flame-red
orbs and his lips are undetectable.
5.
SADUMEL
And what would have you done?
The glow from his amulet draws Sadumel closer as Victor
pulls the locked doorknob.
SADUMEL
You shouldn't have the capacity
to move at will.
Victor swallows his fear as he retreats.
SADUMEL
(intrigued)
The witch imprint you carry is
very strong I've ever seen.
SADUMEL'S POV
The Triquetra symbol spins and wraps Victor lovingly from
head to foot.
BACK TO SCENE
Sadumel circles a terrified Victor.
ON VICTOR'S RING FINGER
The wedding band gleams.
SADUMEL
A witch loved you then. It is
the only way the symbol will
appear so defiant like a
warning sign.
Dark vapor plumes out as Victor stares at Sadumel's
approximation of a mouth.
VICTOR
I don't know what you're
talking about.
SADUMEL
Yes, you do but no harm shall
befall you for now.
He shimmers out.
6.
Relief floods on Victor's face as he leans heavily at the
back of the chair. He's not getting any younger. He
presses a button on the desk.
VICTOR
Get the paramedics.
He kneels beside Joan.
VICTOR
Help's on the way, Joan.
His gaze falls on his wedding band.
VICTOR
(kisses the ring)
Thanks, Patty.
EXT. VERMONT - ABANDONED QUARRY – DAY
The treetops glow from the afternoon sun. Demons on the
hunt appear and disappear over the area.
Two swirling lights coalesce into forms of Wyatt and
Chris. Both unfazed by the growing pack of demons.
CHRIS
There weren't this many when we
left them.
More demons converge to their location.
WYATT
They won't learn, do they?
He counts in silence the increasing horde of demons.
CHRIS
This maybe fun...
He feigns difficulty as he catches multiple hurtling
fireballs through telekinesis.
CHRIS
I can't be the one to always
save your witchlighter butt.
He returns the fireballs, vanquishing the demons with
their own medicine.
7.
WYATT
That demon Skriel didn't do
anything to me.
A simple act of curling his fingers sends ten demons under
his gaze to choke shrivel and puff into nothingness.
WYATT
I was only unconscious.
He releases an energy ball with his other hand to hit
another handful of demons.
One DEMON thrashes as the energy ball catches him in mid
shimmer. He EXPLODES.
CHRIS
(unconvinced)
I don't know.
His leg goes under. The end of the whip coiled up his
ankles.
WYATT
Look, you worry too much and at
your rate, you'll be like mom.
Chris unwinds the cord with a slow rotation of his finger
and winds the whip around the demon's body.
CHRIS
You're not worried at all.
He mimics a firm tying motion, vanquishing the demon.
WYATT
That I was blindsided?
CHRIS
Yeah.
A picture of unified spirit and strong brotherly bond,
Wyatt and Chris guard each other's backs.
WYATT
No.
More fireballs hurtle toward
8.
CHRIS
as he returns the fireballs through his telekinetic power
and hit the unsuspecting demons.
WYATT
waves his hand and telekinetically orbs the rest of the
descending fireballs inside the demons, vanquishing them.
He winks at the
INCENSED LEAD DEMON,
giving signal to other demons for volleys of fireballs.
Chris redirects the fireballs through telekinesis,
hurtling them toward the other demons.
Wyatt's telekinetic ability brings the demons under the
path of the approaching fireballs. Multiple vanquishes.
One demon witnesses Wyatt's farewell salute to him as the
fireball decimates the demon.
Enraged, the lead demon launches a dozen of fire daggers.
Wyatt and Chris orb out to re-appear at the either side of
the demon.
The fire daggers separate in two groups. The weapons veer
direction and gain speed.
Chris influences the daggers to change course. Target.
Demon.
Wyatt flips back the rest of the daggers. The lead demon
screams when daggers puncture his body, vanquishing him.
CHRIS
(mischievous)
Catch you later, bro.
As he orbs away, an annoyed Wyatt hurls an energy ball
towards another pack of demons.
9.
WYATT
Chris! Don't go cocky!
EXT. ABANDONED QUARRY – WOODED PATH – LATER
A FIREBALL PULVERIZES a column of trees. Demons of all
size and shape shoot more fireballs at
CHRIS
going into a shoulder roll.
He evades three successive fireballs blitzing his last
spot. Ash and grit shower around him.
He springs to his feet and like clockwork, vanquishes
demons in telekinetic burst after telekinetic burst.
CHRIS
All that practice with Dad,
paid off.
ON DEMONS
as they clutch their necks, gasping for air.
CHRIS
Goodbye.
Tempered yet lethal underneath, Chris makes a fist and the
DEMONS choke and EXPLODE.
A collection of orbs appear beside Chris and
WYATT
You finished here, Maverick?
Chris rolls his green eyes at the pet name.
CHRIS
That was your nickname when you
were 12.
WYATT
(observes)
10.
You seemed to want it badly
today.
CHRIS
Let's go. It has been a long
day.
INT. HAZEL'S LIVING ROOM – NIGHT
Boxes squat at the middle of the room in need of makeover.
HAZEL tightens the sequined kerchief around her head. Her
proneness to accessorize shows in drab work clothes.
HAZEL
I can't believe this turned out
to be a long day.
She raises her voice as she breaks out in a dance step in
beat with her favorite alternative music artist on her CD
player.
MALE VOICE
(O.C.)
And you said you don't want me
to help.
HAZEL
I take it back.
As she removes the bubble pack around a picture frame...
MALE VOICE
(O.C.)
The kitchen lights are about
fixed.
A photograph lands on the floor. It's Hazel's picture with
two young men.
HAZEL
Thanks.
A terrifying fourth figure mists up the image. A demon
with intertwining smoke and magma-like currents across its
head, adds itself into the picture.
