Main Functions in SIS
The SIS system contains 3 main items: (i) Academics (ii) Finances and (iii) Personal
Information. In this training, we will focus on the Academics group.
There will be some changes to the terminology in the SIS system comparing to the

Overview for class enrollment
In the SIS system, students need to follow the steps below for class enrollment.
1. Check your enrollment period and pre-enrolled classes at Academics;
2. Plan your schedule using Plan in Shopping Cart;
3. Validate the classes added to the shopping cart, and obtain special approval for
enrollment if necessary. ALL TIME CONFLICTS NEED TO BE CHECK BY YOUSELF IN
THE VALIDATION PERIOD;
4. Enroll the classes which are added to the shopping cart in the enrollment period,
CLASSES PUT IN THE SHOPPING CART DO NOT MEAN YOU HAVE ENROLLED IN
THEM, YOU NEED TO ADD THEM IN THE ENROLLMENT PERIOD IN ORDER TO
5. Use the add/drop/swap functions to change classes if needed;
6. Request for further approval if needed;
7. Use the wait list to wait for a class if needed;
8. Check the finalized timetable in "My class schedule" in list or calendar view;

Check for enrollment period and pre-enrolled classes
Enrollment dates refer to the time in which you may enroll for classes. You can only
enroll classes within the enrollment appointment period assigned to you. You can
check the available Enrollment Appointment period anytime in Student Self Service.
Pre-enrolled classes refer to the classes which you have been enrolled before the
enrollment. These classes are assigned to you as core or required classes for your
program. You can check the pre-enrolled classes in Student Self Service.
Check your Enrollment Period
On the right hand side of the Student Center, you could find the available enrollment
period that you can enroll classes.
The Enrollment Dates page can also be accessed from the Enroll > term information
tab. The Enrollment Dates page lists the common validation period (Shopping Cart
Appointment), the enrollment appointments and open enrollment sessions you are
eligible for as well as the maximum number of credit units you may take during the

Check your pre-enrolled classes
The pre-enrolled classes can be accessed from the Enroll > my class schedule tab.
Select display option to view your class schedule in list or weekly calendar view. You
can also Filter the classes you would like to view (enrolled, dropped or waitlisted)

Plan your schedule in Shopping Cart
Validation Period refers to the time in which you may plan for classes. You can plan
which classes you would like to take, and put them into the shopping cart. During the
enrollment period, you will enroll classes according to the shopping cart. Please be
reminded again, ALL ISSUES THAT REQUIRE SPECIAL APPROVAL SHOULD BE SOLVED
IN THE VALIDATION PERIOD.
To plan your schedule, access Plan > Shopping Cart tab. Select the Term for
There are two main methods to find classes: (1) Class Search and (2) My
Requirements (will be released in the future).
To perform a Class Search, Select Term, Search Criteria and Additional Search
Criteria (if applicable), and press Search.

You may check your search results against your existing class schedule and shopping
cart for time conflict issues.
Select the class you would like to enroll for more information.

Select the box Wait list if class is full if you wish to be added into the wait list if class
is full. Click Next to add this class to the shopping cart.
If the class is added successfully, the system will show you the message: The class has
been added to your shopping cart.

Check the classes in your shopping cart and validate (against prerequisites) to check
if you are allowed to enroll into those classes.
(NOTE: DOES NOT VALIDATE AGAINST TIME CONFLICT!)
If a class is successfully added to shopping cart, the state will be showed as OK.
