Introduction
The Sorcerer is a pure ranged damage dealer. They have multiple damaging and control abilities at their disposal This
guide will show you how to utilize these, as well as go over the items, Glyphs, and Crystals to use as a Sorcerer.
Role
Sorcerers are classified as ranged damage dealers. They have a wide variety of damage-dealing abilities, as well as
some nice control spells mixed in. They are able to control their enemies using a mixture of slowing effects to keep
them at bay, while firing off multitudes of fire and arcane based abilities to bring their enemies down before they even
have a chance of attacking.
Sorcerers also contain a wide variety of Area-of-Effect abilities, giving them the ultimate ability to bring down a large
group of enemies with little to no effort.

Gearing and Items
The Sorcerer wears Light armor, just as the Priest and Mystic. While leveling, you can simply hover over a new piece of
gear you've received (from a quest, or drop) and it will compare this piece to your currently equipped piece. If the it is an
upgrade, you should feel free to equip it. Stats on gear while leveling is not something to be overly concerned with.
Crystals
Crystals are placed into slots in your gear. There are two types, Armor and Weapon. They can add a variety of effects
to your character. Note that you will need to remove your current crystals before placing a new piece of gear in that slot,
and then replace the crystal/s into the new gear. You'll receive crystals as random drops, but you can also visit Crystal
Vendors in major cities to purchase them. Below you'll find recommended crystals for both Armor and Weapons.
Armor:
Fleetfoot
Inspiring
Redeeming
Relentless
Resolute
Weapon:
Brilliant
Carving
Cunning
Infused
Swift
A later version of this guide will cover Gear and Items more in depth, covering the stats present and the optimal setup
for a Sorcerer.
Leveling Builds and Rotations
This section will take you through leveling as a Sorcerer and which Skills and Glyphs to use while you level.
Level 1 - 11
At level 1 through 11 you are on the Island of Dawn, the tutorial Island. In the next 11 levels you will learn the following
skills. For this section we will go through each level as your rotation will change very often. As we get into higher levels
the rotation will change less often as you will learn new skills less and less.
1
A basic magical fire attack. Does less damage the
further away you are.
Fireball
1
Does AoE damage to all enemies in a 3m radius in
front of you.
Flame Pillar
2
Leap backwards, out of harms way.
Backstep
2
Restore Mana over time.
Mana
Infusion
4
Arcs a fiery ball 10m in front of you, doing AoE
damage to all targets in range.
Magma
Bomb
6
Lay a trap that explodes when stepped on by an
enemy. Lasts 10 seconds.
Painful Trap
8
Lock-on to briefly decreases the movement speed
of up to 3 enemies to 0. Effect ends when the
Time Gyre
enemy is attacked.
10
Launch an Ice Shard up to 18m in front of you, doing
damage and slowing all targets it hits.
Ice Needle
Level 1
All you know how to do is shoot a magical firebolt (Left Click) and burn enemies within 3m in front of you (Right Click).
Your rotation then is very very simple:
1. Hold down Left Mouse.
2. If enemies are within 3m in front of you, Right Click.
Level 2
At level 2 you learn Mana Infusion. Use this skill in between battles to restore Mana at a greater speed. You also learn
Backstep. This will allow you to quickly escape an attacking enemy.
Your rotation will be to use Fireball at ranged, Flam Pillar once the enemy or enemies are in front of you, then Backstep
away and repead.
Be sure to use Mana Infusion after encounters to regenerate MP faster.
Level 4
At level 4 you learn Magma Bomb, a great AoE ability which will be in the core of your rotation.
Engage the enemy/s at ranged with Fireball, if there are multiple enemies, you'll want to move around a bit so
that they become clustered.
Then use Magma Bomb when they are roughly 10m away from you to damage them all.
Continue with Fireball at ranged.
Flame Pillar when they are in melee.
Backstep away and repeat.
Level 6
At level 6 you learn Painful Trap. This can be used in your normal rotation. Place the trap close to the enemies, once
you engage with Fireballs, move the enemies through the trap and then drop a Magma Bomb on them.
Level 8
At level 8 you learn Time Gyre. This allows you to control multiple enemies that may be cumbersome together. You can
cause up to 3 targets to stand still for a short period of time. Just remember that the effect will break on damage.
Level 10
At level 10 you learn Ice Needle, a pinnacle spell in your collection. We'll be adding this to our rotation below:
Engage the enemy/s at ranged with Fireball, if there are multiple enemies, you'll want to move around a bit so
that they become clustered (and through your Painful Trap if you'd laid one)
Use Ice Needle to hit as many of the enemies as possible, immediately follow with
Magma Bomb when they are roughly 10m away from you to damage them all
Continue with Fireball at ranged
Flame Pillar when they are in melee
Backstep away and repeat.
Level 11
At level 11 you leave Island of Dawn. You don't learn any new skills but you will get a horse and visit Velika (the main
city) for the first time. More information about Velika is in the Leveling Guide if you are following that. Something
important to note is that if you are on a PvP server, the next leveling area you go to will be a PvP zone. Beware of
players with red colored names.
Level 12 - 19
In the next few levels you will learn the following skills:
12
Leap to your feet while attacking your target. You
can use this skill only when knocked down.
Retaliate
14
Charged ability that steals MP from targets within
18m.
Mana
Siphon
14
Does Damage-Over-Time to 5 targets in a 10m
radius located in front of you.
Painblast
16
Freeze the ground in front of you, and do damage to all
enemies directly around you, as you leap backwards.
Glacial Retreat
18
Charge up and release a ball of arcane energy.
Traveling up to 18m in front of you, damaging all
Arcane Pulse
enemies hit.
Level 12
At level 12 you'll learn Retaliate. This skill is entirely conditional on you being knocked down. Obviously, it is impossible
to predict when you'll be knocked down and therefore we won't include it in a rotation. It is also automatically assigned
to a knockdown chain, meaning you do not need to place the skill on your bar. When you are knocked down it will
automatically pop up and can be activated with Spacebar (by default).
Level 14
At level 14 you learn Mana Siphon, this allows you to charge up and steal MP from enemies around you. Sounds great,
but ultimately not all that useful. You also get Painblast, an AoE attack that does Damage-Over-Time to up to 5 targets
in a ring centered in front of you. You can add this in after you've used Magma Bomb, but due to its long cooldown, it
won't go into a normal rotation.
Level 16
At level 16 you learn Glacial Retreat, yet another method of escaping enemies! This will be your new go-to spell to
get out of range of enemies. it will replace Backstep, though Backstep will still be useful when Glacial Retreat is on
Cooldown.
Engage the enemy/s at ranged with Fireball, if there are multiple enemies, you'll want to move around a bit so
that they become clustered (and through your Painful Trap if you'd laid one)
Use Ice Needle to hit as many of the enemies as possible, immediately follow with
Magma Bomb when they are roughly 10m away from you to damage them all.
Use Painblast if it's not on cooldown
Continue with Fireball at ranged
Flame Pillar when they are in melee
Glacial Retreat away and repeat.
Level 18
You will learn Arcane Pulse at level 18. This is a fairly powerful charged attack that can damage multiple foes. Due it's
it's charge, and tricky placement though, it won't make it into our normal rotation. If your enemies are lined up in a row
(which happens frequently) or clumped together and you have time to spare to charge it up (Charging this ability up has
three damaging stages; Green being the lowest, Yellow the median, and Red the strongest. Always attempt to charge it
up to Red).
Level 20 - 29
At level 20 you unlock Glyphs! For more information on Glyphs download and read the Glyph guide. This guide
assumes you know the basics of Glyphs, how to purchase and activate them.
From 20 to 29 you learn the following skills:
20
Lock-on up to 4 targets and release flame bursts
onto them.
Flaming
Barrage
22
Teleports you forward in the direction the camera is
facing.
Teleport
Jaunt
24
Briefly puts targets in a 4m radius in front of you
asleep.
Mindblast
26
Blasts targets in a 4m radius centered 10m in front
of you.
Fireblast
28
Place a trap that will briefly paralyze enemies when
they step on it.
Lightning Trap
Level 20
At level 20 you learn Flaming Barrage. This AoE ability requires you to Lock-On up to 4 targets. You press the skill
button once, then hover over up to 4 enemies, you'll see that you're locked-on once the enemies have a green cast
over them. Press the skill button again to damage them. This can be useful while kiting enemies around and through
your trap, since it's instance cast, you can lock-on and damage them while moving. This requires some skill and isn't
necessary unless you're up for it.
You also unlock Glyphs. You'll start with 10 points, and gain 1 point for every level until level 60.
Purchase these 2 Glyphs:
Glyph of Longshot (Fireball) - Increases the range of Fireball by 3m.
Glyph of Lingering (Glacial Retreat) - Increases effect duration by 40%.
Glyph of Numbing (Ice Needle) - Increases slowing effect by 20%.
Be sure to learn and activate all three Glyphs.
Level 22
At level 22 you can learn Teleport Jaunt. Yet another quick teleport ability to get you out of harms way! Use this when
you need to get away from enemies and Glacial Retreat/Backstep are on cooldown. This can also be beneficial getting
from one group of enemies to the next.
Level 24
At level 24 you learn Mindblast. This will put all targets in a 4m radius, 10m in front of you, asleep. It's not all that useful
since it will break on damage, but you may find yourself in a tight situation and can use this ability to escape.
Level 26
You'll learn Fireblast at level 26. This will alter your rotation a bit since it's an incredibly hard-hitting ability, but has a
long cast time.
Engage the enemy/s at ranged with a casted Fireblast, if there are multiple enemies, you'll want to move around
a bit so that they become clustered (and through your Painful Trap if you'd laid one)
Use Ice Needle to hit as many of the enemies as possible, immediately follow with
Magma Bomb when they are roughly 10m away from you to damage them all.
Use Painblast if it's not on cooldown
Fireball at ranged
Flame Pillar when they are in melee
Glacial Retreat away and repeat.
You will also want to Purchase and activate the following glyph:
Glyph of Haste (Fireblast) - Speeds casting by 17%.
Level 28
You learn Lightning Trap. This is just like Painful Trap, except that it stuns enemies. Not too useful for soloing, but can
be used effectively in PvP.
Level 30 - 39
To review you should have the following Glyphs and 5 Glyph points:
Glyph of Longshot for Fireball.
Glyph of Lingering for Glacial Retreat
Glyph of Numbing for Ice Needle.
Glyph of Haste for Fireblast.
In this section you'll learn the following skills:
32
Your next attack within 20 seconds does 25%
Overchannel
more damage.
36
Launches a powerful sphere at a single target
within 21m.
Void Pulse
Level 30
By level 30 you'll have a total of 20 Glyph Points, 5 of which should be available.
Head to the Glyph Master to purchase and activate:
Glyph of Energy (Ice Needle) - Decreases Cooldown by 30%.
Level 32
You learn Overchannel at 32. You'll usually want to use this right before you Fireblast a large group of enemies.
Level 36
Void Pulse is a nice single target attack that you can add into your rotation when/if it's a single target. It's also instant,
so while you're on the move, feel free to shoot it off.
You'll want to purchase and activate the following glyph:
Glyph of Persistence (Magma Bomb) - 30% Chance to eliminate the cooldown.
This means you'll want to watch out when you use Magma Bomb, and if the cooldown gets eliminated, use it again!
Level 38
At level 38 you learn Thrall of Wrath. This little guy can do massive AoE damage, but will only get 3 attacks off before
dying. Not all that useful while leveling.
Level 40 - 49
To review you should have the following Glyphs and 5 points available:
Glyph of Longshot for Fireball.
Glyph of Lingering for Glacial Retreat
Glyph of Numbing for Ice Needle.
Glyph of Haste for Fireblast.
Glyph of Energy for Ice Needle.
Glyph of Persistence for Magma Bomb.
In this section you'll learn the following skills:
40
Creates a magical shield around you that absorbs
damage, but uses MP per damage absorbed.
Mana
Barrier
44
Lock-On ability that deals massive damage to a
single target within 15m of you.
Burning
Breath
48
Increases your attack speed by 20% for 15sec.
Burst of Celerity
Level 40
You'll learn Mana Barrier. This skill will create a barrier around you that will absorb damage up to a certain amount. It
will instead, take MP from you. This skill can be useful against stronger enemies, but only if your mana pool allows it.
Purchase and activate the following Glyph:
Glyph of Indignacy (Glacial Retreat) - Gives Glacial Retreat a 35% chance to trigger Overchannel.
Level 44
You'll learn Burning Breath at level 44. This is a great skill to use when you only have 1 target. Press it once to lock on,
and again to channel the damage.
Level 48
You can pickup Burst of Celerity at level 48. This will increase your attack speed for a short time. Use this when you
want a lot of damage in a small amount of time!
Purchase and activate the following Glyph:
Glyph of Sharing (Flameblast) - Increases damage when it hits multiple targets.
Level 50 - 60
To review you should have the following Glyphs and 3 Glyph Points available:
Glyph of Longshot for Fireball.
Glyph of Lingering for Glacial Retreat
Glyph of Numbing for Ice Needle.
Glyph of Haste for Fireblast.
Glyph of Energy for Ice Needle.
Glyph of Persistence for Magma Bomb.
Glyph of Indignacy for Glacial Retreat.
Glyph of Sharing for Flameblast.
In the next 10 levels you'll learn:
52
Summons a Hailstorm in a 6m radius 12m
in front of you that damages and slows
Hailstorm
enemies caught within.
56
Lock-on hex that causes Player targets to
be unable to use basic attacks for a short
Nerve Exhaustion
duration.
58
Lock-On up to 4 targets to steal their mana.
Hitting a target will immediately grant you 25%
Mana Volley
of your MP.
60
Encases your body in stone, protecting you
from all damage and dropping all aggro for 5
Stone Skin
seconds.
Level 50
Purchase and activate the following Glyph:
Glyph of Lingering (Ice Needle) - Increases effect duration by 50%.
Level 52
You'll learn Hailstorm at 52. A great AoE ability that does damage and slows targets caught within it. We'll add it to our
rotation below.
Hailstorm to catch all targets
Fireball at ranged
Flame Pillar when they are in melee
Glacial Retreat away and repeat.
Level 56
At level 56 you will learn Nerve Exhaustion, a PvP only skill. If you find yourself battling against other players, this is a
great skill to use, since it renders their basic attacks useless for a period of time.
You'll also want to purchase and activate the following Glyph:
Glyph of Brilliance (Hail Storm) - Decreases MP consumption by 300.
Level 58
You'll learn Mana Volley. This is a great skill to use when you find yourself low on Mana, but enemies are present. Click
it once and then lock-on up to 4 targets to steal mana!
Level 60
Congratulations, you've made it to the end! You will learn Stone Skin, which will prevent all damage to you for 5
seconds, and drop all of your aggro. This will be VERY useful in instances/group content.
