TEAM-BUILDING AT ULTRAZONE
Since 1995, the ULTRAZONE team-building and special events program has developed a significant and loyal
following. Our unique approach to team-building is well known throughout the San Diego business community,
as well as by corporations visiting the area for conventions.
Playing laser tag with members of your organization at ULTRAZONE incorporates the basic principles
of team work and game strategy, allowing employees to enhance communication, develop rapport and
camaraderie, sharpen their competitive edge and/ or define leadership skills while having a great time. We
feature two Team-Building programs with varying degrees of structure in order to meet your diverse needs.
JOIN IN THE FUN
An Informal Team-Building Program
ULTRAZONE is a natural team-building experience. Game play will intrinsically offer an opportunity for
“team” interaction and development. Camaraderie, communication, and the simple enjoyment of positive
group interaction are an expected consequence of ULTRAZONE game play.
In many instances, a company or organization needs a unique setting for a day away from the office where
large numbers of employees can experience a shared group entertainment event. Perhaps the goal is to
recover from burnout, stress, or end-of-project exhaustion; or it’s time to take an opportunity celebrate
accomplishments! The interaction, level of activity, and participation in each game allows individuals to take
a break from the real world, laugh beyond description, and enjoy each other’s company. Our follow-up
evaluations indicate that participation in such a unique and thrilling adventure will most certainly enhance
the prospects of staff harmony upon your return to work.
This more informal program typically involves three games of ULTRAZONE, with the goal being camaraderie,
fun, and the development of general team skills and communication.
Players receive a game briefing where they are offered basic instruction for game play without prior team
organization or active teamwork facilitation. The goal is to acquaint players with the arena, use of the
equipment, three-team play, and the thrill of the Ultimate Laser Adventure. At the end of the game scores
are posted on huge monitors and each player receives an individualized, comprehensive scorecard detailing
their and the team’s performance. This feedback will enable players to analyze individual and team
performance, and facilitate the development of next game strategy.
ULTRAZONE staff offers game feedback and is always available for team discussion throughout the event.
We pride ourselves in creative use of this popular program. We have developed many specialized variations
of “Join In The Fun,” depending upon the focus and needs of the particular group.

T-BLAST
Team-Building Laser Adventure & Staff Training
As we developed our team-building services to meet the organizational development needs of our special
event clients, a new program evolved designed specifically for those corporations and professional associations
that require a formal, structured experience: Team-Building Laser Adventure & Staff Training –
T-BLAST
.
While incorporating all of the elements of the traditional “Join in the Fun” program, the T-BLAST program
takes the next step in structured team-building interaction and event design. A specific format is followed
from pre-event planning through the event and with post-event follow-up. Each T-BLAST is designed to meet
the team-building and staff development needs of your specific group.
After the initial contact we begin to detail the current “team” situation for your group, your desired
outcomes for the program, and the necessary pre-event planning required for the creation of your program.
A visit to our website www.ultrazonesandiego.com and/or an actual site visit by your planning committee
follows where you can begin to visualize your event. With your group more clearly defined and your
objectives outlined, ULTRAZONE builds your program; all you will have to do is arrive for the day of the event.
The actual T-BLAST program demonstrates the development of teamwork and group development through
a three-phase process:
Get In The ZONE — participants experience their first ZONE adventure. Players receive
a game briefing where they offered basic instruction for game play without prior team
organization or active teamwork facilitation. The goal is to acquaint players with the arena,
use of the equipment, three-team play, and the thrill of the Ultimate Laser Adventure. Each
player then receives an ULTRAZONE personalized membership “smart button” for use
during the event, allowing the equipment to recognize the player by his or her actual name.
At the end of the game scores are posted on huge monitors and each player receives an
individualized, comprehensive scorecard detailing their and the team’s performance.
Team Building Instruction — prior to the second ZONE adventure, participants receive
detailed coaching instruction and guidance on Team-Building from the ULTRAZONE staff.
Then, using the detailed game analysis information from their scorecards, teams through
facilitated interaction decide, as a group, on the implementation of their plans. Strategies
are developed, leadership roles are defined, and strengths and weakness of the team are
analyzed. A team is born! Game # 2 is then played.
Group Discussion & Strategic Planning — prior to the third ZONE adventure,
participants evaluate all aspects of the previous game, and are now able to analyze the
success (or lack of) their prior strategies and the overall functioning of the team. They then
discuss new tactics and how to better function as a unit. ULTRAZONE staff remains
available to answer general game questions, but no coaching is provided as teams now fully
plan their strategic ideas together as an evolving squad. Team communication and
cooperation are highlighted. An event evaluation follows this last session.
As part of the T-BLAST program, you will receive a final report that includes copies of the first and second
evaluations to note changes in key team building measurements — qualitative and quantitative — and direct
feedback from the T-BLAST instructor.
