THE STATUS OF STATISTICS ON WOMEN AND MEN'S ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN THE UNECE REGION

The issue of women and men's entrepreneurship has received growing attention among policy makers in the member states of the UNECE over the last decade or so3. Entrepreneurial activities are an important factor in creating and increasing employment opportunities and fuelling economic growth. Entrepreneurship continues to play a crucial part in the transition process in South Eastern Europe and the CIS, being an important source of job creation and opening career opportunities for men and women. However, as it is reflected in labor market trends in general in the member states of the UNECE, there is a serious gender gap in entrepreneurship in all countries of the region.
