(1888PressRelease) The importance of working together is to maintain our national security and
to recognize the United States Army's efforts in its readiness to assist the affected population in
case of disasters. Paul Chehade

(1888PressRelease) The United States Army, was founded on June 14, 1775, and its mission is
an integral part of our nation's security, because the United States Army is an extension of the
American people. The Army's main outreach effort, is through events and relationships with
community organizations, and so that local communities bring the nation closer to the Soldiers
who serve them. http://www.army.mil/

Association Internationale de Solidarite "Solidary Foundation", having its origin in 1999, helps
communities worldwide, and is dedicated to serving the poor, regardless of a person's religion,
race, ethnicity, or gender, as a demonstration of God's unconditional love for all
people. http://www.solidary.org/

LULAC the League of United Latin American Citizens, "LULAC" was created in 1929, as a
non-profit, non-partisan, national organization whose mission is to advance the economic
condition, educational attainment, political influence, housing, health and civil rights of the
Hispanic population of the United States. http://www.lulac.org/

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the U.S. Army recognizes the contributions of Hispanic
soldiers, celebrates the traditions of the Hispanic community, and helps develop the nation's next
generation of Hispanic leaders.

U.S. Army was represented by the U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion (Miami); Solidary
Foundation was represented by its president, Mr. Paul Chehade; Florida Embassy LULAC
Council 7220 was represented by its president, Edna E. Canino, LULAC Florida was represented

by its State Director, Jose A. Fernandez. LULAC International Ambassador, Roberto E. Canino
was the evening's master of ceremonies. Many other civic leaders joined in recognizing and
paying tribute to soldiers of Hispanic descent for their dedication to our nation's defense. These
soldiers also represent the diverse pathways and career options available to serve through the
U.S. Army. Local Hispanic business and civic leaders were also recognized for their
contributions to their respective communities.

The evening's keynote speaker was Brigadier General Mr. Hector E. Pagan. Gen. Pagan said, in
part "... Hispanic Heritage Month serves as a moment to pause, reflect, honor and celebrate all
those great examples of leadership Latinos have given - and continue to give- our nation; a
nation that is made stronger by the beautiful tapestry of cultures and ethnic groups, who have
found in our soil a land of solace, tolerance, openness and opportunity. ...We are honored by
your sacrifice and love for our country. We serve in an army of volunteers and I am proud of the
fact that many in our community elect to serve."

Mr. Paul Chehade, President of Solidary Foundation and a Senior Advisor to LULAC
International Embassy, said, "... The importance of working together is to maintain our national
security and to recognize the United States Army's efforts in its readiness to assist the affected
population in case of disasters. Mr. Chehade was the recipient of a LULAC Leader's Recognition
Award, for his expert advice and partnership with LULAC International Embassy, and Florida
Embassy Council 7220.

LULAC Ambassador Roberto Canino emphasized, in part, that, .."It is the soldier, who salutes
the flag, who serves under the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, that we pay tribute
tonight, together with our Hispanic Leaders in support of our military." We Hispanics have
always defended America with unwavering valor and honor, Canino said. He added, "..Were it
not for the brave, there would be no land of the free, therefore, it is important for our community
leaders to support our military and to promote and maintain the democratic principles of this
country."

God Bless America
