backdrop of panoramic African Savanna while our pride of lions sits proudly on top of the Kopje

The name Tsavo Lion was derived from a true story which took place in East Africa in the year
1898. The story was about how 2 Lions turned man-killers and prey on the workers trying to
built a railway line crossing Tsavo River. For a period of 9 months, the lions stalked, tormented,
terrorized and killed more than 140 people at the workers campsite. At the end, on 9 December
1898, Lt. Col. John Henry Petterson, who's the Chief Engineer for the railway construction,
managed to shoot and kill one of the lion. The second was also eventually shot and died 3 weeks
later. The bone remains of the 2 feared lions are exhibited at The Field Museum, Chicago, Illinois,
United States of America and till today, the story still remains legendry to the people living in
Tsavo.
