Ten Essential WoW Gold Making Strategies

Introduction
Many years ago a very smart man named Napoleon Hill interviewed and studied
the wealthiest people in the world. He soon realized that rich people all had
certain things in common. He put his findings in a book called: Think and Grow
Rich. To this day that book is a classic and one of the most popular books on
making money in existence.
What does this have to do with making gold in
the World of Warcraft? Well, the same thing
can said about the richest WoW players. Every
wealthy WoW player has incorporated certain
goals, success strategies and tips into their
daily routine.
The truth is: being successful is a mindset.


After playing WoW for 5 years and studying how to make gold by reading
countless gold making guides, WoW profession forums, websites and blogs I have
narrowed it down to Ten Essential gold making strategies that will help everyone
regardless if they have played WoW for four weeks or four years.

Tip 1: Level Your Character to the Maximum Level

If you want to take advantage of the WoW economy to its fullest you need to
have a high level character. High level characters are very powerful in WoW for 2
reasons:
1. They can go to any outside zone and most non-endgame instances to farm
mob and items
2. They are the most efficient at farming mobs for gold and drops
Having a maxed out character makes you a super efficient farming machine which
will enable you to farm any Northrend location (as you can kill practically any
outside non-elite mob) in order to farm desirable trade goods that are wanted
and needed by buyers on the Auction House.
Mounts, epic mounts and eventually
flying mounts are available to higher
level characters -- which gives players a
speed bonus and gives the player
access to hard to find areas and lets you
bypass mobs which is critical for
gathering resources and faster
traveling.
Another benefit of characters at the
level cap can do daily quests for
hundreds of gold profit. Also, having a
maxed out level character will enable
you to help your lower level friends in
any instance as you can burn through
the mobs.


If you do only one thing do this: level your main character to the max as fast as
possible.

Tip 2: Choose the Right Class for Farming

There are 2 classes that are especially good at farming gold: the Hunter and the
Death Knight. A good strategy is to use these characters as your farming
character which can supply the gold to play your other main characters.
The downside to playing both of these classes is due to the fact that there too
many players currently playing them, rarely are they wanted by groups, raids and
guilds. Nonetheless they are both very powerful classes and the ultimate farming
classes.
Hunter
No other class can level as fast as a Hunter. No
other class is as easy to play as a Hunter —
especially a beastmastery specced Hunter. This is
why I heartily recommend players roll a Hunter any
time they move to a new server; they are the
perfect gold farming class. At level 17 they get a
speed buff – Aspect of the Cheetah -- that helps
them get around faster.


If played correctly and with the right spec Hunters have almost zero down time
which is perfect for farming


Death Knight

If you have at least one level 55 character on any
server and have purchased Wrath of the Lich King
Expansion you may want to consider creating a
Death Knight “hero class”.

This is another great class that is perfect for
farming due to:

 Pure offensive power and high armor that makes you almost impossible
to kill
 Great area of effect abilities that can damage multiple mobs at once
 Very little downtime.

Once you finish all of the Death Knight quests in the phased starting area you
should have amazing blue gear plus an epic mount that will give you quick travel
to farming locations.

Tip 3: Do All of Your Daily Quests

Blizzard has given a gift to players who have reached the max level of 80 – they
are called daily quests. These quests were purposely created by Blizzard to give
high level players a daily source of income so that players would not be tempted
to purchase gold from Chinese gold farmers (a practice that I do not condone).
Doing every daily quest each day can earn a player literally
hundreds of gold; this is why I recommend everyone level
their toons to the max as in tip #1. Therefore doing daily
quests is probably the best use of your time for sheer revenue
generating power in WoW.

How much can you earn?
Level 80 characters at the current level cap can earn even more gold. For
example:
 1 Level 80 Daily quests pays out: 13 gold 23 silver
 25 Level 80 Daily quests pay out: 330 gold and 75 silver
As you can see earning 330 gold per day – not to mention the cash and items
you’ll get killing the mobs along the way – is a good chunk of coin!

Special Tip: Many daily quests in Icecrown and at the
new “Tournament” quest hub at the Argent Crusade
Tournament content involving killing the Scourge. Killing
these Scourge satisfies the requirements for a few of
these quests so be sure to save time by loading up on all
of these quests beforehand.

Tip 4: Install and Master the Auctioneer Addon

Auctioneer Advanced is the most important addon you will ever install if you plan
on making lots of gold. Auctioneer does one important thing: it establishes a
reliable market price for all items for sale in the Auction House.
If you do not know the going market price for an item then you are at a serious
disadvantage and you will end up paying too much when you purchase items and
you will sell things for too high or too low.
You should do a complete scan of the Auction House at least once a week.
After that you can do a complete scan every few days but I highly recommend you
scan once per day. Also you must learn how to use the Appraiser, Post and Search
features within Auctioneer which helps you automate and speed your Auction
House posting sessions.
Special Tip: If you don’t have time to scan every day
then be sure to use the “Refresh” button before you set
a price in the “Appraise” panel. This will ensure that
Auctioneer has the latest market prices and sets the
price of your item for sale accordingly.

Tip 5: Use Mules

If you are serious about making gold in WoW then you will need to create what
are known as “mules”. Mules are level one characters that used primarily for
holding items for storage and selling items to the Auction House.


The reason is you need a mule is that
they can store both items for sale and
items you can stockpile for later use
such as cloth, ore, herbs, leather and
food. Create a level one mule that you
use to sell the items you have looted
from other characters.
Avoid giving your Auction House mule a
name that stands out like “Buyfromme”
etc. You should give your mule a bland
name so you don’t draw attention to
yourself. This will help you sell more
items as buyers may avoid buying from
you if your name is too recognizable
and flamboyant.


Make sure that your Auction House mule is parked at a mailbox that is close to
both the bank and to the Auction House.
Get in the habit of mailing all non-grey (green and up) items that you find during
your adventures to your mules every time you pass a mailbox in a town.
 You should have a dedicated mule that receives and stores all items and
materials that you intend to sell in the Auction House
 You should have a mule that stores items like crafting mats. In fact I have a
mule just to hold meat for my main character’s cooking.

Alliance characters should use the mailbox in between the Stormwind bank and
Auction House.
For Horde characters use the mailbox just outside the bank in either Ogrimmar or
the Undercity – both locations a few feet away from the Auction House.
Make sure that each of your mules has lots of bags and ample storage space in
the bank -- trust me, you’ll need it.

Special Tip: Put all of these mules on your “friends” list
as the WoW client will complete the rest of the name for
you when you type in the first letter of your mule in the
mailbox interface .
