A veterinarian (sometimes called a “vet”) is a doctor for animals. Veterinarians take care of the health of animals. Veterinarians take care of many different kinds of animals in many different places. Veterinarians can help decide what kinds of foods an animal should eat, what shots an animal needs, and how to help an animal that is sick.

care of their pets. Veterinarians know how
to take care of dogs, cats, and other small
animals.

Farmers use veterinarians to help take care

Zoos use veterinarians to help take care of
all the animals in the zoo.


Veterinarians can even help wild animals
that are hurt.
