is right now, however, for establishing this
co-ordinating body to further facilitate the
work already in progress.
The context and vision of the Commission
comes from the vision of Jesus himself and
the teaching of the Church.
Jesus outlined his own vision of his life’s
work in the synagogue at Nazara:
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
for the Spirit has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor,
to proclaim liberty to captives,
sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,

Canowindra Centenary Coming
Preparations for the Centenary celebrations at St Edward’s Primary School
Canowindra are well underway and the school is asking all past and present
teachers, students, families and staff to help find ‘old boys and girls’.
The celebrations will take place on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st
September 2008. Principal Mr Ken McNamara said an invitation and
information pack is available at the school. “Please call in if you would
like a copy and feel free to collect extras to give to people who would
like to be part of the weekend. There is an email version available for
those who’d like to pass information on that way”.
The programme will commence on Saturday afternoon with events
in school grounds, time capsule and new brick path unveiling, special
centenary speech, music, open classrooms, memoirs book and
afternoon tea. On Saturday night there will be a Cocktail Party, visual
display and entertainment.
Sunday will start off with Mass in St. Edward’s Church followed by events
in the school grounds, a BBQ picnic lunch, burying of the new time capsule
and lots of games, activities and displays.
A ‘memoirs book’ is also being developed and the School is asking for stories
and memories. These can be emailed to stedwardscanowindra@hotmail.
com, posted on an A4 page with reply form to PO Box 75 Canowindra
