The same thing happened to my husband and I think the only thing you can do, is hire an Attorney. It is very costly and still takes quite some time. If you are legally married, they will use you as a "hardship." Unfortunately, any children you may have, don't seem to count for much. I have been in the United States illegally since 1994 and want to go back to my country. My consulate gave me a "laissez-passer" since my passport is not valid. I was arrested for shoplifting 5 years ago and they say it can be a problem with the immigation services at the airport. I am leaving on July 14 and don't have enough time and money left to consult a lawyer. Has anyone been in this situation or know someone who has? Every comment will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

my husband and i married one year ago. i filed for his residency but that takes 2 yrs. we recently went to mexico and i was down there in monterrey for 9 months. thats hardship. is it going tobe hard to get him back because he was in the usa illegally and now we were married in wisconsin. there is no way im living in mexico tried that out now i know why they come here. hes still down there and im waiting for his visit in juarez. do i have to pay to say that he was sorry for coming the the usa illegally. he was never deported and we went there on our own. any answers would really help us thank you

Mani - your daughter will need to file her OWN N-400 application. She cannot derive citizenship through you or your spouse, as she is married. She, and you, are eligible to file for Naturalization once you have have been a resident (lawfully admitted) for 4 years 9 months.

My brother and i have been in the United States for 12 years are parents brought us here illegally. we have graduated form hight school .A family member filded a family petition in 2001 5 years late we recieved a letter that are petition was in proces its been over 6 years and we still don't know what has happened. now my borther and I are attending collage and its dificult with out a social security number. I was living/working in the US for 17 years been married to a US citizen who was stationed in the army for 3 years ,I filed for residency & was given a temp work permit,because my wife was stationed in S.Korea she could not make the interview,my status was listed as pending,I was visiting a friend in N.C when I got stopped by a traffic officer who asked to see my drivers license,it was still valid for another 2 years upon opening my wallet to take out my license the officer saw my work permit & asked to see it, because it was expired,I was taken into custody,ICE kept me in Detention for 1 year & then deported me,I am barred for 10 years from the US,can I re-enter after my 10 years is up,I still have lots of family in the states.

I am an American citizen and my husband is British. We applied for his US visa but the process seems to be taking a long time, the website says he may not get his visa for another 2 years. Because of this, my son and I got British visas to live in Engand for the next couple of years, which were only granted with the confirmations that my husband's parents would support us while we got on our feet. My mother-in-law has decided she doesn't like having us here, because she has emotional problems and has decided she doesn't like me for whatever reason, and no longer wants to house us. My visa and my son's visa say, "no recourse to public funds" so we cannot get any kind of housing assistance. My husband has been having trouble finding work, and I am very pregnant and need to care for my son anyway so I can't find anything until I know what he will be doing. We have no money, and now she is kicking us out. Can my mother-in-law get in trouble for all of a sudden refusing to do what she said she would do in the application?

I was stopped and removed from the US on my way to Canada, I signed a voluntary departure/deportation document and I was told that I will have a penalty of 10 years but I can still apply for a waiver to re enter, I'm a Canadian citizen now, I applied last year for the waiver and I was approved, the waiver is about to expire and I will be apply for the waiver again, my question is: how many times do i have to apply for the waiver? after the 10 years do I need to continue applying or because I'm a Canadian citizen I wont need the waiver anymore?

my friend has been coming to the usa for years. he loves it here and stays with me for months at a time then goes back to canada every so often for about 6-8 weeks. he doesnt work while hes here because he is not a us citizen. on one of his trips coming back here, a us customs agent told him he could not come back now and that he should wait 2 or 3 more months. he was told he comes here too often. if he tries to come back in 2 or 3 months, will they stop him again? will they make him wait 5 years??? i just dont understand. please let me know what to do

I know someone that has been a Canadian citizen now for 7 years and was married back in his home country and he came back to Canada and waited for his wife to come and when she did she threw him in jail and he never had a criminal record! She is turning his friends and family in canada and back home against him! He wants to get a divorce but if he does will she remain in Canada or get deported back to her home country! A child, (over 18 applying for citizenship) goes to collge in a state other than his/her home state, which address should he/she put on the N-400 citizenship application, home address or school address? Will the interview/Oath happen in his/her home state or the where he/she is attending college which is in another state?

I've been married to an illegal for 5 years now. We have three children together. He self-deported himself 1 year and a half ago due to his mothers lifethreatening illness. He can no longer return to this country and the case we submitted with a lawyer never went anywhere while he was in the country. I am now living with the help of the government to support his children. I need to know if there is anyway to file for a waiver without the help of another lawyer (the last one was not at all honest and took us for lots of money). I don't have any money to pay a lawyer to plead our case. I have been moving between Mexico and the US trying to keep my family together but I want my family to have a chance here. There is no way I could sponsor him now and I have no co-sponsors of any kind. Isn't there any way that they will allow someone wanting to support their family into this country to do it legally? I hate having to live off the government when he is fully capable of taking care of us.

I am a Canadian Citizen who has lived in the US as a permanent resident since 1982. I have 5 boys which are grown now, who were born in the US and are citizens. After a second failed marriage I became Destitute.
I have married again although my husband works my Permanent resident ID expired Last July and the cost is extremely high to replace it. We live in poverty with him being the sole provider which has lead to the breakdown of our relationship since I cannot find work with my ID being expired.
My children are spread over the US with children of their own and with this economy they are barely making ends meet. I have 2 family members still alive in Canada and being a citizen I could go back there to live. It would be as foreign to me as moving to Africa or Ireland but I would be better off.
I cannot find assistance to get there however. Since my ID is expired no one will give me the time of day. I do have a SS Card and DL. But they do me no good. We don't have the funding to replace my card. I don't see our marriage lasting at the rate we are going. I just don't know what to do. I love him but cant work and 1 provider to a household of two in todays world is not working well with our relationship. It's broken down progressively over the last year.
Is there anywhere a Canadian Citizen who has permanent residency in the US can go for assistance with either the cost of renewing a green card id or at least funding to go back to their originating country?

i have 3 children born here in the us within the past 10 years. I have been here that long. came on a visitors visa and stayed due to complications with my 1st pregnancy. I am now a single mother living off the government when I damn well can get a job with my education and maintain my kids. Can I apply for a work permit?

YOu know I am a Canadian who ACTUALLY understands the USA Constitution and what it stands for and what the founding fathers actually gave to create the USA. The thing that pisses me off really bad is that I have wanted to move to the USA for my whole life and now I am awaiting my sisters sponsorship to go through it is going to be 4 more years it has already been 5. I am a hard worker who has NEVER in my life held a gang affiliation I own a small business that I started with no government help what so ever, I would like to bring this company to the USA to create jobs. I want my two boys to live in the greatest country on earth, but yet you have illegal mexies and mid easterners (with bombs and all) coming to the USA every day and you have the ACLU and all the lefties fighting for these "people". Please help me someone who will respect the USA for who she is someone who will work hard to make her keep her beautiful past they way it should be. Is there an immigrant legal program to help people like me? If so please help.

I was married to a US citizen in May 2010, and I am currently getting all the information and documents needed to applying for my US citizenship green card. However, the tourist visa of my Canadian passport has just expired in July 2010. Do I need to extend my tourist visa (if yes, within how long, and do I go to a Canadian Embassy in the US, or do I have to go to the Canadian border ), or it is legal for me to remain in the US before I submit all my citizenship documents to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services as long as I am already married to a US citizen? I came to the U.S legally with my parents at the age of 6.At 17 due to a drug addiction I was arrested and deported.Since I have no family ties in Mexico, I kept returning.However,it was difficult to stay out of trouble due to my long standing drug addiction.In short my life became a vicious cycle.During the intervals I did manage to finish my education and had a wonderful son who is now a police officer.Meanwhile all my family became U.S. citizens.I have been in Mexico for 6 years now.I managed to open a small business here and have become a law abiding tax paying citizen.However, I miss my family,my son and my country.Well. although I was born in Mexico after growing up ,and 50 years of living in the U.S.,I don't feel Mexican.My heart is still with my adopted country.It's really a shame that parents simply take children to the US and never explain what a privilege it is and most of all the consequences should they have an encounter with the law.My parents were ignorant to all this and as a result my life became a nightmare at 17.But at that time it was nothing.Boys will be boys.Now I see what a great country the U.S. is and how I would do anything legally to return home.Is there any type of relief that I can file for?Can my family petition for me even if I was deported for an aggravated felony?

How do I go about reporting my mother-in-law who is living and working as someone's nanny here in the US (illegally) without my husband suspecting it was me? No, I don't like her. I'm tired of her free-loading off of my husband and I and off of our government. I think she's been able to get away with it because she has a European passport and is older. I guarantee that if she was younger and from Mexico, she would have been caught a long time ago. (And there's no racial profiling here! ha!)

She's here on a visitor's visa, and leaving soon to go back to Europe (only because she has to per the visa requirement), but she's going to be right back in about 2-3 weeks to pick up where she left off. Does immigration not realize that this kind of stuff is happening? Why do they continue to let her back in??? This has been going on for several years now.

my name is Lucia Garcia, I am currently 17 years old, Ive been living in Miami since i was about 8 years old. i came illegally with my aunt, and trust me, it was a horrible experience at 8 years old, i had to go threw so much. my mom is a residence, but m mom decided to wait to long to file my residency. she started working on it in 2006, and they had send a response saying my visa is in my country and approved, so my mom hired some lawyers and im really confused, because i don't know if he is lying to us. he told my mom that my visa is all done, and all i did to do, is go back to Nicaragua and claim it, then come back with a visa, probably the same day. He also said that there is no way they could deny it to me, because i am not 18 and i haven't committed any crime or been involved in drugs. So i just turned 17 on June 2, and about 2 months from there, its when he told us that, he said i need to wait about 4 more months until he gets everything done. I am really frustrated because i am going to be a senior in a few weeks and i cant even apply to college or do anything. i feel as if i am walking on a wire on mid air, my future is on the hands on someone that i don't even know if hes saying the truth, because if i go back to Nicaragua and what he said is false, then i wont be able to come back, and my future would be ruined. I cant even convince my mom to do anything, because she thinks hes saying the truth, but i just dont know what to believe. i really need an answer, so i can finally breath, so please help me and tell me if this is all just a lie, and all he want is money or if it could actually be possible?

My friend has been in the US since he was 8 years old and he was deported about 15 years ago for violation of parole. When he was 19 he committed a no violent crime and served time and was released on parole, he violated his parole because he was hanging out with some of his friends who also were on parole. Is there any way to get him back in to the US legally?

My Wife is permanent resident of the USA and is due for her Citizenship right now. We met in NZ and got married in NZ too. We decided last year that we wanted to come to the USA for a honeymoon/ vacation, but now want to live here in the USA. My father has a pending petition, which was filed in April 1993 by my grandfather (who is a US citizen). We just received a letter stating that it is now in process. Since the petition was filed 17 years ago, me and my older sister are already over 21 (26 and 27) but unmarried. My younger brother is turning 21 in September 2011 while my youngest sister (now 16) has to be added in my father's new list of dependents. Btw, we are from the Philippines.
